Sounds like its gone into limp mode, most likely after picking up a touch of knock, get the ecu reset and read for codes.

Mine classic droped from 14psi down to 8psi once over which turned out to be the manual boost controller to blame. Unsure if you had one fitted but maybe worth checking

Prolonged knock is very bad for the engine, the knock sensor picks it up and adjusts the timing, if ithe ecu picks up more det or excessive boost pressure it puts the engine into limp mode to protect it from damage.
What fuel are you using?
Also have you filled up at a supermarket before you got this problem?
Usual cause is poor fuel quality.

I have been running scoobies on Tesco momentum for 4 years and it has never caused me a problem. My first classic went into limp mode once it had no boost and put a rev limiter on at 4k rpm. That was caused by a faulty MAF sensor. Lack of boost can be caused by many things your best net is to get it checked out by a pro ASAP..
Also if its UK spec and as you say completely standard it should be ok running on 95 RON unleaded..

You wouldn't say that if you had a knocklink fitted
Mine lit up like a xmas tree on 95 and a standard map.
