| As most of you know i probs have the worst luck in scooby ownership history. The Type R shat its self several months after i bought it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The liner on no 4 on the 2.2 decieded it wanted to expand. The block was scrap, so basically had to start with a fresh block. I went for a fully forged 2.0ltr that would be well caplble of running the AFP20g to its max but safely. I'm trying to get a nippy B road car that handles well, rather than a full on big BHP monster. The car laready has BC coilovers , Whiteline ALK & AP 6 pots, so fitted 27mm rear ARB with stut mounts & 24mm front ARB whith whiteline front & rear dropinks. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I thought a bought busting it, but was persuaded otherwise by the misses, so stared to sbuy bits to get it all back together. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I got a CDB to use on the build, but due to issues at the time i had to sell it along with a few other bits. I ended up using a ODB & had it fitted with a CDB insert by Bob at a good price, as he took my cracked 2.2 to use for templates. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I bought some 92mm CP pistons from the states which worked out at a good price as no import duty payed The block was sent to Amec engineering to get a hone, & rings gapped, after a month of waiting git the block back, gave it a good clean in Drews dishwasher & had some enamel mixed up & gave it a coat of paint. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Assembled the rear thrust crank, Acl bearing & scat rods. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]With a few pointers built the short block up. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]RCM oil pump & water pump fitted. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A few bits coated in Wrinkle paint. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Sump & modine fitted. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Managed to get a new flywheel at a good price as well, the std one was cracked to bits & even a skim couldn't save it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Was getting the heads cleaned read to send away for pressure testing & skimming, but closer inspection showed a small piece of the inlet valve on No 4 cyl was missing, i would say this is most likely the root cause of the demise of the 2.2 block or was a contributing factor. So thats about it until i have the funds for a new set of heads. I gonna go for what was fitted to the car as std, v3/4 sti heads. I have a few carbon bits to in the engine conpartment which i can be on with in the mean time.

am sure he only want 4 valves Probs not, i could replace with a new valve & bucket, & one of the cams chewed up as well. But he head face is deeply pitted, too deep for a skim, & also damaged round the valve seat. So i'm not going to reuse them, & will keep an eye out for a set of v3/4 sti units, i'm in nee hurry as have plenty jobs to be on with. | |

| Quick up date, since the heads were goosed started to shop about for a set of v3/4 sti heads, In the mean time deiecided to cf th inner wing for the cold intake & to make things look a bit smarter. Ally tapeed up and release film to stop cf sticking [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A bit cf [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Half way there but should look & work canny when its done...... i managed to find some undamaged v3/4 sti heads for a good price, when they arrived they had a full subaru seal kit with them . Sent them off to Bob for a skim, more on them later. Since i was running v5/6 heads & manifold, i had to find a 3/4/ maniflod, thanks to EJ gav, [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Cheers I wanted it in black so stripped the paint of with evil Nitro morse, horrible stuff me face was on fire lol. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]After a few coats & a bit elbow grease looked as good as new. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]A few coats of wrinkle black [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And into the oven should be a busy weekend heads to sort once Bobs finished with them, & inlet to finish off.
