need more bhp ??

hi people i wondering if anyone out there could help me out i have just bought my first scooby its a early 98 subaru impreza turbo 2000 its a really clean looking car but am a little disappointed in the performance i thought it would have a bit more pull as far as i know the only things that have been changed are the exhaust and air filter so heres what i need help with what will i need to get this car to a safe 250 bhp thanks all

Safe 250 would Probly just be a remap with raised boost mate . Am sure sum1 will be along with better info

I made 260+ with a full exhaust and manual boost control so 250 should be easy enough done without a remap I do believe you should see 280bhp with a remap exhaust and filter there are a good set of remappers used on here that visit the northeast regularly.

Thanks lads but do u know if u can remap a pre 98 impreza or will I have to buy a after market ecu first ?

Someone will tell you there are esl boards that fit to the ecu that let you remap ya ecu but not sure what year it is.

Deffo speak to one of the lads on here as they have good knowledge have aloof through the business section all the mechanics and tuners are on there and are the choice of the club have been tried and tested and are getting used time and time again so they must be doing something right

Disnt think a boost controller and exhaust made much a difference but im no expert also not pisitive on the ecu type changeover ide give drew finn ir andy kindon a bell if i was you theyd all advise and carry out work to make it safe unsure on eclipse as never realy used them for tuning minus a chip which didnt perform too well and was changed

Have just had the car checked and it's a version 4 and the ecu isn't mappable so don't know what my next step will be will I have to change the ecu for more power ?

I have 98 classic turbo. I have full decat,ported
Headers ,sti y-pipe, samco boost intake pipe
Then Andy k sorced and fitted walbro fuel
Pump,yellow injectors,vf 30 turbo,orange maf
Import ecu. Think it's in the 315 bhp

1992-1996 can use esl mapping So I think you will need something like a Simtek if your only looking for 250 mark get a full dcat , boost controller and Finns ported headers that will see ya over that I'm sure I made 267bhp from them mods on a uk turbo I'll try find the print out.

How about this an i.s ecu and some 440's and a vf22 turbo, have been told that would be about 280bhp does that sound about right and would this set up work ? Sorry for all the questions lads lol

Loads of options mate best bet is ask one of the lads stated above as they know there stuff theyve all helped and still help when needed to give me advise on my 400bhp engine

am currently breaking a V4 sti.
so av got the ecu ,injectors, vf28 turbo,maf for sale, which would see you around 300bhp

with a boost controller and ported headers should see you over 320 bhp

V4 is mappable but you have to get a esl board fitted to the ecu, best bets call in to Finns he'll point ya in the rite direction
