PostSubject: Warning to all   Warning to all EmptySun 28 Oct - 21:11

Hope im not jumping on anyones toes but after reading a few threads on here i thought it best to give some info with regards to insurance./project threads etc.

Im admin on scottishscoobies.net as some of you already know and recently we had a member who joined and only looked at project threads and then suddenly we had members being contacted by there insurance companys and then there cover cancelled for mods not declared or non standard items, ie sti spoiler on a wrx.

We have locked down our fprum to new members so anyone with less than 40posts etc cant access project section etc, and also we all have forum plates for shows etc, means they cant trace anyones car,

they tried to cancel a lads policy for racing his car a knockhill as his car was pictured on a club stand Shocked

Just watch ure project threads etc or edit ure reg plate from show pics etc

Hope this helps and if ive overstepped the mark by posting this then please remove

Cheers Tom

I think it's well said and a insight into wot the insurance companies are willing to go to, but I find a lot of them now ask if your a member of a drivers club....offer discounts ect when really they fishing, I've always declared and payed the price over the years but am at a happy place now with insurance :0)

Yeah i always declare every mod but some folk dont or not all and others dont know as its there first scoob so previous owner modded,

Its shocking what they do to get the info but just shows what they really get upto,

Also 1st central, if u do an insurance quote through the comparison sites and declare ure mods then accept it they will contact u and try and cancel, if u go direct they say they wont insure with even an exhaust change,

Im with admiral and never had any probs touch wood lol

Yup great post tomwrx for all those tightwads who think its a good idea not to declare mods.. I'm with the same company as locky as he recommended them to me and yes they ask if your a member of a club. All my mods are declared but I said no anyway Wink

I went with a new traders insurance few month ago....
tried to add my skyline GTR even though I was told modified cars would only be covered to 3rd part only..which I accepted...
they said they would send details away to the brokers for clearance...
told them its off the road getting engine problem sorted at a Garage anyway...
they asked for photos of the car and engine bay, which I gladly sent them..
few days later..."Cover Cancelled Notice" left me right in the shite as I was overseas at the time.
email sent to me " we have checked the name on the photo (which was my sons)
and have found info from the internet about all the Modifications so we cannot and will not cover this EXTREME MODIFIED car"
and to rub salt into my wounds thay demanded Half a years premium for the total 6 weeks I had the Insurance cover for...
Cheeky bastards!!! Mad
so watch out as there searching the internet for anything they can get on you!!!
