PostSubject: 330's Mini project.   330's Mini project. EmptyMon 27 May - 15:31

Well since i saved a few grand on what the 330's was up for sale for, i had a few quid left to do a few sensible mods. Nothing like the Type R was, should take a month to finish ( awaiting a mapping date).

The car was in excellent condition, mechanically, Tufftys mate works at Newcastle Subaru, whilst it was in for its service & MOT he gave it a good going over, all that he came up with was the rear pads had 4k left & the NSF shit guard had detatched & had been worn away slightly by the tyre. Cosmetically the car was clean, but not to my normal standards.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Got it home gave it a wash, clayed, waxed stripped, machine polished & waxed. The engine bay was also a bit grubbly so gave that a good clean as well. It took a few days to finish, but looks much better now.

Next up was to change the plates as they were too large IMO, so after a bit searching, i found a place that did plates with the correct lettering size & spacing but makes the plate just the right size to fit 6 fonts.

Next up HT Autos side skirt extension, rear spats, painted satin black & laqured, they are an excellent fit & not too expensive. Also some mini Prodrive mud flaps, these were optional extra only availible from Japan. And for all i love the car i still can't get away with the rear lights, so stripped & split & gave them a very light smoke, when i got them on the car they actually give a hint of blue, fook knows how that happened, but i like them.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Then replaced the STD air filter for a K & N panel filter. Just as well the old one was clogged with half a tree. Shocked

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I've purchased a full 3" turbo back system & then a map as soon as Andy is availible, & thats me done, i love the way the car drives now as it gets full torque (350)@3300 rpm but a little extra torques won't harm, & i should improve on my 32mpg whilst tootling around.

Quick update, its all done how we want it now...... Well until i get bored, LOL
Prior to a remap by AndyF, i got a cracking deal on a full turbo back system & an AEM induction kit, thanks to the lads @ Revolution. And a big thanks to Mr Drew for helping me fit them.(well i supervised mostly) I had some left over titanium wrap from the Type R so wrapped the down pipe, & painted the rest of the system in black high temp paint, then rather than butcher the OEM heatsheild, i fitted a turbo blanket, which i bought from the same place as the on i had on the Type R & the same as Drews.
Induction kit fitted:

Middle section painted & fitted:

Backbox & tail pipes fitted:

I also fitted a new Uprated fuel pump as a precaution, even though Andy said it wasn't required, but it wasn't going to hurt & it was well priced, no pics though.
Mapping day arrived & arrived @ gippas first thing, Andy hooked up all the bits required, & off we went down the A19, after a few hours & the normal, people looking at you like a Twit as they overtook you @ 40mph then you cruise past & slow down, & they overtake again. LOL. I found a quite flat stretch for the delta dash run, 3rd gear 3k to 6k, we had to do it twice as the 1st time i backed off before the end of the run, laughing & asking what have ya done to me car... theres no way i can let our lass drive this. LOL. After two further runs we got a 370/400, which dosn't sound much but chuff me it goes well. Deffo the best £460 i've ever spent Very Happy the car it totally transformed from the std power & response of the 330s. So thats it power wise for the time being, it will be a while before i get bored, however i am toying with a winter project, building a forged 2.5CDB, & i suppose if anything happens to the OEM block i have a replacment to drop in. Along with bigger injectors & possibly a 321v Laughing
Then i sorted the hands free kit, managed to find the discontinued handsfree kit for the OEM satnav, these were £150+, good old e-bay £20 delivered new, & works a treat.

Side wind deflectors:

I hated the front grille, two tone grey & the silver fog light surrounds, so painted them satin black & also modded the head lights & fog lights
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
And then finally gave it a full detail which took 4 days to complete:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I'm getting the front & rear pads replaced next week & also replacing the timing belt, (6k early but better sooner than later).
So thats it, & all done & for roughly the price of what the car was originally advertised for. Shocked Shocked
Happy days.
BIG THANKS TO:
Drew
Keith @ Revolution
Gippa
Andy Forrest
Alyn @ ASPerfomance
& me Misses for buying it for me Cool
