First off congrats to the club for rocking up with a bigger squad than 3 or 4 of the others groups put together. I dont know exactly how many ended up coming on the day, but it was an impressive site
Considering we arent into massive self advertising with flag poles and picket fences, the judges still recognised our efforts. Thankfully they were not there to witness us taking 1 hr and 20 mins to put up one banner - in true NESF relaxed style - using a rock and a jack to whack the poles in the ground. Pure comedy.
I thought our cars were well presented, we made visitors feel welcome and the awesome catering unit kept the troops sustained throughout. For those who didnt see it, here is the trophy that we picked up at the end of the day.
While I'm on thanks to the folks who helped me out, Locky for my awesome engine bay bits, Colin @ CR Auto for fitting my splitter and short notice, Lian&John for the engine dress gear and the rest of you for kindly taking the piss whilst encouraging me to strive on - especially Steviedoo who stood by my shoulder in the show ring masterfully handing out words of wisdom and moral support like "you do realise you are the only NESF guy in the show ring, so everything is resting on you and if you fook it up, we'll never forgive you.......and Ive just noticed you didnt clean that backbox properly you Twit, tut tut". What a guy
And finally congrats to the newest NBO officianado, Judge Drew who comanded himself admirably all the way through the day, adopting a casual hands behind his back, relaxed and interested style. Pointing here and there, peering into engine bays and under cars, making the odd comment and stroking his facial hair in a true pondering judging style. He played the part just as you'd expect him to and it looked like he fitted right in. I was particularly impressed that he maintained a very high level of professionalism all day which speaks volumes for the man.
Well almost all day.................
