| Correct, it wont.
Whilst you could extrapolate that a "high claim rate" vehicle is 50% more likely to be indemnified than a "low claim rate" vehicle (9.3% vs 6.3%) it wont read through into underwriting considerations as general risk will still outweigh actual claims data, and risk mitigation is a bedrock of the industry.
I'd also challenge their assertion that based on the figures, Subarus are more likely to be driven by 30-40+ yr olds as being erroneous. Unless they can speak diretly to discrete driver profiling, they are interpreting and stretching the data, it may be correlation but not causation. The fact that fewer claims are made by younger drivers doesnt mean that young people arent driving the marque - its more likely that young drivers dont claim for damages as this will significantly impact their already very high premiums and put bonus status back, which in a first year scenario at 30% introductory, would be a serious setback.
Its also likely that the Impreza community are going to reach within and repair a car through their contacts than take it to a dealership or make a claim. If you truly profiled the Subaru owners, you'd probably find that they have one of the highest age of car averages on the road (a record previously held by volvo) as a good number of folks are still riding around in Classics, hence my previous assertion. More likely to self repair than claim or even break/scrap than go through the insurers. The newer your car the more likely you are to look to the insurers to cover even the slightest damage.
Lazy journalism, even for the Telegraph.

I like the fact that you use big words that nobody understands rather than swear words when you get upset about things. I'm off to buy a dictionary
