Mot due next couple of weeks and need 2 new front tyres first. Thinking actually ideal time to get a set of 4 winter tyres instead for my hawk wrx. Prices seem crazy though and not much availability. Anyone seen any good deals for good tyres fr around £100 each? Thx fr any advice!

You want to avoid winter tyres mate. Apparently they add extra traction and that's the last thing you want in the snow

ive heard there a waste of time too. i was told aslong as the tyres are new ish and the tread still has sharp edges they will be fine. but ive got a beemer so am knackered either way if we get loads of snow.

I don't rate winter tyres at all, good tyres with slightly lower pressure work better IMHO,

I can honestly say there is a HUGE difference using propper winter tyres. I never got stuck when using them on the classic but have been stuck in the hawkeye before (wheels wouldnt fit the hawkeye). Even on thick freshly layed snow you get brilliant grip whereas road tyres were hopeless.

Thanks everyone. Went for some new regular tyres in the end. Hopefully new treads will see me well through winter. Will be investing n winter tyres for the wife's car instead.
