Rite I got a new ken wood stereo for my motor but as soon as I plug the speaker plug in the stereo goes into protect mode

I've tried a different stereo and it dose the same

Is their any comon earthing probs that any 1 has had behind the stereo

Have you connected the chassis earth to the cage ?.
Had the same issue before, turned out i'd forgotton this earth.

Also if the speaker wires are shorted it will do this too.

Thanx guys

It turns out my rear speakers are fooked I tried new 1s in and they worked
Then plugged the old 1s back in and it went straight back into protect mode

So new speakers required too may aswell do the lot
