PostSubject: Not happy!!!   Not happy!!! EmptySat 22 Mar - 18:25

Opened bonnet today and found rusty water residue on the turbo, actuator etc, didnt know where it came from but it looked like it had sprayed out.
Some knob head has put a lot of Rad Weld shite in the water which clogged up afew pipes and expansion tank was caked in the stuff. Freed pipes up and cleaned tank out. Think rad is all clogged up aswel.
Put everything back on, filled coolant up.
The pipe on the turbo which has a pipe from expansion tank attached to it has a pin hole in, which has been spraying all over the engine when car is running. I'm hoping the hose from tank can be forced over the hole and clipped in place to stop the leak.
How can I get rid of rad weld stuff?

You might have to give rad a full flush out till water runs clean won't anti freeze clean most if the rust out ??

I have no idea. Oh yeah and expansion cap seal is fooked aswel.
On the plus side the exhaust looks brand spanking new but back box is too quiet. Underneath is immaculate, sills are perfect. So I'm abit happier. Gonna see if i can push hose down the pipe to cover the hole up. I'll just buy a new rad when I can and buy a new hose kit. Its all i can do i think.

That stuff is horrible it sticks to everything. We used it on the Foz as a short term fix prior to fitting a new lump. When I stripped the block down the waterways were caked in the stuff (i bit like limescale)needed a chemical clean the block, so I doubt a flush will do it.

Sounds like your turbo water pipe is rotting through from the inside, I have a spare here if you want it (FOC).

G101 with a hot pressure wash is about the best thing to get rid of most of it. Depends how much was put in and where the leak was.
Cheers jonny, I'll call over when I get chance mate. Got the polo to use anyhow.
