If you mean the big plastic one, mine came off with the first engine mod and never went back on. Ive heard various pros and cons but put it this way, in nearly 8 yrs of ownership I never had a problem because it was absent.

Mine came off and stayed off on my bugeye, if your planning more mods best of leaving it off till all done or just chuck it lol

More air you can get in the engine bay the better imo
