I had a bit of a play in my hawk at the weekend (kielder) and thought the ride was a bit sloppy lol
I am thinking of lowering it maybe 30-40 mm using springs only as I don't like coilovers.
what do you guys think of Apex. Tein and the like ?

Lowering springs are a good option mate. I had Prodrive lowering springs on my Hawk before I went to coilovers and I wish I had have kept the springs. I have Tein on my Type R now and they are spot on.

I have just fitted Tein to my hatch and no complaints yet the ride is nice not harsh and they are cheap as chips to buy.

Eibachs are are really good choice and are still a comfortable ride. We have just ordered some for the hatch. More pricey than teins but worth it imo.
