| so today my fuel pump failed or at least i hope its the fuel pump as im not getting the initial whine you usually get when the ignition goes live. so went out to pick some dinner up earlier and the car died coming out of a junction, not the sort of area you want to be leaving it overnight whilst you wait for your new part either. luckily i was fortunate enough to have the use of a garage just along the road to store it until the replacement HRC performance pump turns up. went to a local motor factors, purchased a tow pole, then couldn't find the towing eyes for either of our cars so had to improvise with some draper straps we had lying around. anyways so we hooked it up to my mates car to drag it around 300 meters down the road to the garage and the bloody strap snaps on the crossroads due to inexperience in the towing department and not taking the slack so had to jump out and push as quick as i could, so embarrassing to top it all off i got back home jumped into the trusty mk4 golf TDI only to find that the alternator is knackered and that wont start either, what a bloody day, just thought id let you all know just in case you thought you were having a bad day SOMEBODY DID NOT WANT ME ON THE ROAD TODAY ! | |

| I can't get rid of it I keep saying this is the last time, it never is though.
Since I got back from America iv replaced Up pipe (stainless decat) Radiator (full alloy race rad) Turbo oil feed (braided upgrade) Turbo gasket (multi layer steel) Up pipe gasket again (cheap one lasted a day)
To do list Rocker cover gaskets Fuel pump
Since I bought all I seem to do is put right the things the previous owner bought cheap the first time round but at what point do you decide enough is enough, iv spent too much on it to just get rid now so it's here to stay for now coz it puts a smile on me face every time I drive it

| It's a scooby mate there's always something to do with it..... I'd go for a hrc fuel pump if you need one like there probably one of the best ya can buy!!!! Am standard without a map but still running a hrc 340 it's just for piece of mind always better to run more than you need
Just my two pence worth but worth it lad

| Was only a couple of hundred meters should be fine, well, I guess we shall find out tomorrow if the new pump arrives. Should have arrived today to be honest as I ordered it around 12 but no joy.
Got to pick a new alternator and belt up for the golf in the morning too so busy day fitting that, the fuel pump and the rocker cover gasket too
this might be a silly question but as the cars mapped with the walbro pump will it need a tweak for the HRC ? | |
