What's the difference between a Malamute and a Husky anyway?
To me they look kind of smaller than a Husky but more furry.

In simple terms Mals are twice as heavy as a husky and much, much stronger with a less flighty temperament.

Barney is small for a male Mal, he weighs about 35kgs whereas they ordinarily weigh up to 50kgs. However, Barney has a one-off temperament which makes up for his lack of size in a laid back nature.

I'm not a big fan of huskies - they're very range and not as good looking imo (but each to their own).

Mals are a little less destructive usually, neither are dogs to be taken on without serious thought. My friend had a video of hers digging through their sofa to get his ball that fell under it they hooked the video up to see what he did when they went out as neighbours said he howled all the time, 2 weeks later he haddn't howled but no sofa!! It was a case of I can't reach it so I'll just go through it.....he does like digging, enormous holes in their garden usually.

Barney is a diddy one and much less stubborn than others I know, so placid bless him, but I'm sure good owners make all the difference too As a size comparison my friends Mal can put her paws on her owners shoulders and look over his head without stretching and he's over 6ft
