Hi, Ive finally taxed the motor. its a 93 wrx classic its stood since around august, fired first time using jump leads and my trusty derv. ive driven it around all day but the battery is still dead. this battery was brand new only 2 or 3 days old when i stopped using the car. The volt gauge is reading just under 14v but ive noticed that when my ignition lights are on (before startup) the battery light isnt lit could this be the cause of my issue?

What voltage does the gauge read when the engine is off? To measure it properly you need to leave it to sit for a few hours so all the surface charge is gone.

Was the battery connected up while it was sitting about? If it's sat for three or four months without being disconnected it may be knackered. Best thing to do is take it out of the car/disconnect it and charge it using a proper battery charger - I've brought a few back to life doing this when no amount of driving about would sort it.

I have a similar issue on my Classic but I suspect it's the alternator as the lights/revs pulse

everything looks normal looking at the volt gauge. just before i put it away my old battery just suddenly drained so i replaced the alt and battery just to be sure. with the battery light not being illuminated when the ignition is on could it be one of the wires broken in one of the two plugs that goes to the alt?
