| Mixed emotions at the moment - had my WRX in with Dr Kindon on monday for a new downpipe and a new coilpack to try and clear the misfire I'd been getting on cylinder 2. Turns out the coilpack was faulty, but thats the least of the issues as it looks like the fuel pump has been under performing and caused piston damage - the cost to replace one piston is only slightly cheaper than replacing all four and then it's not *that* much more to rebuild the engine, which would mean peace of mind for a good long time rather than worrying about something else going pop further down the line and having to fork out again. Gutted in some respects because it's a lump of money I didn't think I was going to have to pull out but on the other hand I'll have a rebuilt engine done by one of the best.
In the meantime the decat downpipe has been making me grin like an idiot, it sounds unreal even though I'm nursing the car everywhere under 2500rpm to avoid doing any more damage!

| Thanks - just going to let Andy sort it all out though, I'd have no idea what I was buying TBH | |

| Definitely in the best hands in the North East for an engine build mate. And Andy also recommends the HRC HF340 fuel pump that Dave has for sale mate so he would be getting you one of those anyway. |

| Lots of praise for Andy He's done stuff on the car in the past and I've always been pleased, I know he's done lots of people's engine builds too so I've plenty of confidence going to him. Had a look at your car while I was down there the other day Locky, amazing looking thing in the metal! | |

| Well, I got the car back on Friday and couldn't be happier! It'll be a few weeks before it's run in properly so I'm keeping it below 4k revs and 5psi on the boost gauge as Andy recommended but even driving it at a fraction of it's capabilities I can feel how much stronger the engine is compared to how it was, it feels eager and responsive - looking forward to being able to see what it's capable of when the first 1000 miles are up! | |

| I had it rebuilt to standard spec, obviously the temptation was there to do more but it came down to cost really. 300 miles down now | |

| It's a killer running them in, I was going out just to put miles on mine after mine went bang.
Remember it's town driving you need to do, up and down the revs. I get higher and higher the closure the 1000 miles gets.
