2005 wrx, had the car less than a week now, and the alarm keeps going off every few hours. not sure if this is
just today or if this has been happening (first day off with the car), theres no real strong wind and it starts fine
with the key in and pressing the lock/unlock and starting

all the doors are closed and it stops going off when i press the lock/un lock on the key fob

What daz said, probably a weak battery. Mine was like this for years, I used to think it was the wind or maybe one of the doors wasn't quite shut properly or something, so I just locked the door without putting the alarm on. For a while. Then I bought a new battery this winter and it's fine, doesn't go off any more.

I forgot to mention, I think the heat sometimes sets mine off too as the car is black and gets quite hot on a sunny day. When it's cloudy or cool I don't have a problem.
