Seized Tyre Valve Cap Empty
PostSubject: Seized Tyre Valve Cap   Seized Tyre Valve Cap EmptyMon 1 Jun - 21:04

Please feel free to pour scorn and call me all the names under the sun AFTER you have helped me out.

Like a numpty I fitted a set of nice anodised black Ali valve caps to the car in the summer. Sweet I thought.....until tonight when I went for some air only to find one of the twatts seized solid.

I've currently got the wheel on the garage floor and have tried bloody everything, to no avail. The Ali cap is rived to bits and I'm no further forward.

A) who knows the solution to the problem ?
B) who fancies sorting the sodding thing out before I rip the valve right out of the tyre and kill myself / wreck the wheel in the process ?

Pliers or molegrips on the valve core and then dustcap and twist, failing that, tyre shop for a new valve.

Ditch the snazzy dustcaps and stay with plastic ones!

Wise words Stick, definitely a style over substance purchase, I just read loads of threads on this on 350z and other sites. There is a YouTube of some bloke with a blow torch but that's way out of my league. I'd probably burn the fkn garage down and they'd still be stuck. Looks like lashings of wd40 and some healthy twisting. Failing that it's space saver on and down to car tyre world unless someone has a better idea. A bit sick now. Neutral

Buy plastic fancy dustcaps if you want some, there is some around like.

Not funny but I'm laughing...
I put copper grease on mine first, come off easily, well after the first ones got nicked :-)

Don't worry Anth, I posted to give a few folks a laugh at my misfortune. I'm just so bloody annoyed that I didn't put something like copper slip on myself, what a dozy Twit.

I've got another set in the garage that I could drop on right away, I'm just mindful of what Stick said. They put those cheap plakky ones on for a reason Laughing

Any idea on what a valve replacement should set me back ?
