| Well the 450 torque has finally smashed my gearbox in :-) Twit Tbh its looking like another 5 speed for about £500 fitted, cos that's all I can afford ATM. To go 6 speed I'm looking apx 2 k... Which I don't have. Will keep you posted on it getting fixed. Using my sons other car for time being... And oh yes... I am well pissed off about it all. But hey ho | |

| Sorry to hear that Anth but almost sounds like you were expecting it (?)
Are 6 spd's so much more just on the economics of supply and demand (and peoples greed) or are they fundamentally different animals ? Seems a big difference in cost.

UK STI 6 speeds are bomb proof really mate and regularly run power of 600bhp+ - they are very desirable especially for classics & JDM wanting more power & better gearing and slightly better fuel economy - UK non-DCCD boxes go for average £1400-£1600, Blob Widetrack & Hawkeye STI DCCD boxes go for £2K+ |

| Was reading about blast plates for the 5speed which are supposed to eliminate some of the weakness in the 5speed. Just had a quick glance might be something worth having a look at | |

| All fixed now , just went for 5 speed as not enough cash for 6 speed, happy again... But still think in what to do. Heard about the plates you can fit to make them stronger but not in UK yet. | |

| I am thinking about the blast plates as well, I have read good reports from the states, I might give it ago over the summer, new clutch blast plates and the best oil then do some quarter miles see how they hold up?
