Next steps for car Empty
PostSubject: Next steps for car   Next steps for car EmptySat 7 Mar - 21:49

As is the usual case for many sort of getting a little bored of the car and I 'm wanting to get a bit more out of it performance wise. Basically I want to improve the power delivery to make it a bit more instant. When I had my evo soon as you put your foot down it would just pick up and go straight away. But the hawkeye is a bit more laggy and slower to react. I was wondering based on my mods where might be a good place to start to improve the pick up of the car, as I'm not too sure.

Killer B sump baffle plate
2.0 sump conversion
HRC 340lph Fuel pump
Toyosport exhaust system.
TD05 20g billet turbocharger
Ported TGV deletes
Hawkeye STI inlet manifold
Hawkeye STI intercooler and Y pipe
K&N typhoon short ram induction kit
3 port boost solenoid
Air pump removed
Genuine HKS SSQV blow off valve
Throttle body coolant delete
Header tank insulators
ported headers and up pipe
NGK ILFR7H spark plugs

Its not slow by any means around 395bhp and 410lbft

you would need to go twinscroll setup to improve or just adjust driving style slightly, ie have it at higher revs before u nail it Smile

How instant do you want it? Mines pretty much the same spec and it's feckin ballistic in any gear except 6th, which it shouldn't be anyway

410ft/lbs of torque should mean bad ass acceleration/kick scratch

Harvey smith trick up pipe would help but not massively as you already have a ported up pipe and headers

The car does certainly go fine. Its just I'm well used to it by now and just want a little more. I had a feeling there wasn't really any cheapish way. Just I preferred the power delivery I had in my evo before. But thinking on that was running similar power but the turbo was smaller with higher boost which would probably explain less lag. I'm just considering a few options on where to go next with the car, the other being the roll bars as I have an alk ready to fit. Thats the problem with modified cars always wanting more or something different.

from my limited experience, induction kits cost a small amount of response in exchange for a small amount of topend power. if you have the chance to do some testing i would try the standard airbox back on with a k&n pannel filter, a harvey up pipe and recirculate the bov. toyosport products are also not very good so i would have a look at maybe a 2.5" turboback system from a reputable manufacturer rather than the 3" offered by toyosports. 3" volume is imo overkill for the amount of air your moving, as far as response is concerned that is.
