am 95% sure they are open deck block
just stripped a P1 engine last week, and that was open deck block

just spoke to phil i thought he was on about your 2.5 if it was a semi closed, the standard ej20 in rb5 is open deck, a semi closed ej20 was fitted to newage STI only

I asked Phil if the standard RB5 engine was open deck or closed and he thought I was on about 190 which hasnt been standard for 4 years now - men
