paper work for scrapping your car

what do i do now? the car is beeing broke so what paperwork do i have to send in to dvla??

think its a section on your V5 to fill out

As Hardy says, the V5 has a part for scrapping, fill that in and send it off

or if ya know some1 at a vehicle end of life centre they can do it for you and u will get a certificate of destruction...

its just a section on your V5 to fill in as hardy & pitchy say. when i did it, i got a confirmation letter back from the DVLA within 14 days saying their records had been updated etc

If you have broken up the vehicle yourself, you must either continue to tax it or tell the DVLA that you are keeping it off the public road. You can do this by making a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification). You will need to make a SORN every year until you have taken it to an ATF, or told DVLA that you longer have it.


im not breaking the car, i sold the car as one piece, so do i now get whoever bought it to fill in the paperwork??

Need to just cash in the tax and declare it sorn. Then send off the logbook with the dismantled/recycled section filled in. It shoild explain it on the V5 itself mate

That or just sign it over to drew as the new keeper and he can sort it

Sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but - If you've sold it as a whole car they have to take responsibility of the V5/ownership, so it's new keeper details even if sold as spares/repairs then they deal with the scrapping bit once it goes to an ATF. At the minute it's still a 'car' and you haven't scrapped it in the DVLAs eyes....confusing but that is how it works at the minute I think.
