| Sorry to hear that my dog hates toddlers but he just hides and cries - don't blame him some are horrid things I do homechecks sometimes for these http://www.oldies.org.uk/ they are experts in rehoming older dogs. They often have homes waiting especially if they are in a home environment already. They've had some challenging dogs too, I did homechecks and follow ups for a very aggressive Akita/German Shepherd cross and he's with a great couple in Newcastle now who control him well and adore him so much. He's the third one along on the top three photos in circles so please don't have him PTS because he's told a toddler to clear off. There are organisations who will help. There is www.dogpages.org.uk which has a private rehoming section in addition to breed rescues If you get no joy with either shout, I can contact some smaller ones dotted about but those, especially oldies, are definately your best options first Good luck x

| Why not try and have him re-trained so that he gets familiar around younger people??? All to easy to give a dog away IMO. | |

Sorry Phil but much as I love my dog, I'm with Jamie here. A dog which has already proven to snack at a toddler would be very hard to trust, even after being re-trained. Having previously worked for the RSPCA in the kennels, it is not worth the risk to keep a dog which has proven to bite when a toddler or baby is in the house. It has obviously been a very hard decision for Jamie but, I totally agree - if my labrador for instance (yes I know it's a soft mouthing breed) snacked at a child and I had young children about - I would have no hesitation in finding a suitable home without children. I'm just sorry Jamie has to come to this decision - as I know it would be very very hard to do. Nic |

| compleatly agree with you for deciding to do this!, I know how hard it must be . Really hope you find a good home for him. My sister is pregnant and we have no idea what our 2 labs are going to be like, however our 14yr old yorkie is not good with blond toddlers if it wasnt for her age she would have to go. had her from being 6weeks old and im glad she prefers to stay in my room on my bed all day. if she was 10 we would have to do the same. its a risk that cant be taken. Will ask about for you, fingers crossed |

| thanks everybody for the advice.he would be suited to an older couple cos he just likes to curl up next to your legs and go to sleep.a few friends are also asking about for me,the dogs trust cant take him till after xmas due to being full.im sure i will get him a loving home.hes a very loving dog who would make a good companion for somebody. | |

| Did you try Oldies or the dogspages private rehoming pages? He might also be able to find a foster place for now until he gets a new home if you want him to go before the little one is a toddler, much nicer than a dogs trust kennel. Rescues will also home check and usually issue a contract insisting that if emergency situations did occur he would be returned to them, it's in the Oldies contracts. |
