Listening to Alan Pardew describe Newcastle FC as a massive club i let my mind wonder as to who first coined the phrase because nowadays even the mighty Scunthorpe FC get described as massive clubs by new signings etc. My first memory was when Nicky "Big Club" Barmby signed for boro and gave the old speil. then every club he subsequently sighned for that phrase "i,ve signed for a massive club now" was spoken and i just though "Loose words my dear son Loose words" just wondering your thoughts boys and girls...

These press conferences may as well have just a tape player stuck on the table instead of the new manager/player sitting there, press play and listen to the same old drivel being said.
Like you say, Massive Club always gets mentioned, as well as great fans, big challenge but one I'm looking forward to, dream move, a ground I've always enjoyed playing at, etc etc
Same old speil, same old sh1te.
