PostSubject: DIY Det cans   DIY Det cans EmptyMon 5 Apr - 12:04

knocked some fresh detcans up over the weekend-

this is what you need to do the job-

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

all parts bought from B&Q to keep the job easy.

total cost was £20
2 meters of 12mm (ID) hose
1 pack of 12mm y pipe joiners
1 set of standard ear defenders
1. 12mm copper tube

Tools needed-

hammer
hacksaw
glue (superglue will do)
drill with 10mm bit
common sense

First job is to flatten one end of the copper tube with a hammer-

Next job is the drill a 8mm hole in the flattened end-

Then remove excess copper with a hacksaw and finish it with a file-

This can now be pushed into one end of the plastic tube using a lot of force-

Next take the ear defenders and remove one of the cans-

Remove the padding and foam liner-

drill a 10mm hole in the side of the can-

Next cut an end off one of the plastic joiners-

And glue it into the hole in the can-

Attach the other end of the hose to the pipe to the can and refit the padding without the foam, the refit the can to the ear defenders-

Like magic, you now have your very own set of detcans....easy!

If you want to make them for both ears you can use the extra joiner to split the pipe to both ears but I find it a lot better using 1 side.
