fuel problem Empty
PostSubject: fuel problem   fuel problem EmptyTue 17 May - 7:06

I have a 2002 legacy GT. I put a new fuel filter in two months ago and the problem went away for a while. The car has problems only when I hit the 3/4 full mark. The car looses power and idles irradically and wants to stall. If I hit the gas it goes away for a few seconds. The plugs have 30 k on them and the wires are new. It runs fine on a full tank but like clockwork when it hits the 3/4 mark it acts up. The motor jumps up and down and idles crazy. When I fill up the tank it runs fine. I think the fuel pump is going bad. I have ordered a new one but don't know if I am waisting my money. The plugs have 30K on them and I have new plug wires. I can not figure it out. When it acts up I can feel the fuel line pulse both before the filter and after the filter. I am thinking to replace the filter tomorrow but don't want to throw away thirty bucks if it is not necessary.

sounds like the top pipe on the pump is sucking air, take the pump out the tank and replace the hose
