Anyone know if 97/98 foresters are Remapable ? Just bought one cheap :-) PICS ADDED !

Just won a forester on eBay for cheap just wanting to know if there the same as the 96-98 Impreza where you need a standalone or if there remappable havnt had anything to do with them before !

It's the jap model 240bhp

Do they run exact same ecus as imprezas cos I've got a v4 type r Ecu I'l just throw that in if it does , don't want to spend £££s on it realy

Fantastic - Mine was proven as standard at Motoscope in October with 238hp - Close enough.
Any pics/link?

Lads have ran them on Impreza ECU's with no issues.
They are exact WRX internals to the engine so all mods possible as long as yours is a manual plus comes with a TD04 as standard.

First and most important job - Replace the standard 14mm rear anti roll bar with a Classic STi 20mm one. Best mod I have ever done.

Stick an IS ecu in it, you will need 440cc injectors a vf22/23/24/28/29 turbo and an orange lable maf and it will fly.
took my old 98 wagon to 353bhp with the above spec

It's an automatic but I'm putting me gearbox in out of me yellow one

I've got a 6s Ecu Thatl do me for now then :-) then I'l keep my eyes open for an is

I havnt got pics yet I'l be gettin it picked up today or tomorrow I'l get em up asap

It's had uprated arb front and rear :-)

Can't wait to get it now like :-) been runing an old shogun around the doors nd it's costing pounds in diesel so mayaswell run the a forester Itl prob be cheaper for wot I use it for itl be ideal

What's the difference between the standard Purple MAF and the Orange MAF?

Cheers bud , ya need an orange to get more power ;-) also there matched to the ecus so Itl not run with a purple

as gipa says the maf is matched with ecu and not interchangable as would give wrong info to ecu, there also different in size,on pre 99 cars majority of cars fitted with tdo4 run a purple maf, tdo5-green maf, vf 22/23/24-orange maf, very early uk ones with tdo4 ran a geen maf just to complicate things, typical of subaru

the IS ecu is from a jdm wrx v3/4, jdm wrx v3/4 engine is same as a uk engine and forester etc but runs a vf 22 front entry turbo and is rated at 280bhp in standard form, a simple decat and panel filter will easy see 300, so its possible to fit to a uk or your forrester and will run fine(v-power is a must) but you would need everything the IS ecu uses, ie yellow 44occ injectors, a vf turbo (doesnt have to be a vf22) and an orange maf and the difference is well worth it

What colour is it?

It's black but with grey bumpers it needs colour coded like will have pics up in morning :-)
