Picked the motor up yesterday morning after its own little vacation at the Kindon Car-Spa and what a difference.
The Doctor finally diagnosed the root cause of my two years of misery - a completely fooked hub and carrier assembly, which was only evident when everything came of the car. I'm sure he can describe the situation better, but even I could tell the thing was goosed lying on the garage floor. The look of relief on AK's face as he talked me through it was a picture. I think he was nearly as pleased/relieved as I was.
So the new hub and carrier is in place and its as smooth as silk, several noises and clunks that I'd just got used to or associated with road noise are totally gone and the whole thing just seems a lot steadier. Just need a little alignment re-check now and robert is indeed your dads brother.
My gauge set up is also now wired up and a gorgeous thing of beauty (thanks FINN). But I nearly crashed the friggin car on the way to the cash point watching the boost gauge dancing about, so thats something to get used to.
And finally part one of the power upgrade is on board with Jonny Gavs ex VF30 replacing the stock turbot, and even though the car isnt mapped for it, it feels pretty sweet even under sensible driving. But something I wasnt exepecting is an even better sound from the car - the exhaust note has changed and seems much deeper and sweeter now. Bonus.
Now I just need to sort out my remap, get my injectors fitted and away we go. Toot toot
