Now I know I'm not supposed to go under the bonnet on my car, so apologies in advance to those people who will tell me off, but I had to fill up my washer bottle the other day and noticed that the fibre pad thingy thats attached to the underside of the bonnet is looking a bit sad, tattered and torn.
Q. Does it actually do anything and would the car function perfectly well without it. If so, can I just rip it off or do I need to replace it with something ??

Think it's there to protect paintwork on bonnet from to much engine heat, but think sone people have removed them and not had any issues.

Champion, thats what I was hoping you'd say. Part 1 sorted.
Now I've just got to hope that the thing I filled up with fairy liquid actually was the washer bottle.

Dont worry Keffer, the bubbles are coming from under the big metal cap on the top of the black thing at the front with the fan behind it, so nowhere near the brake fluid res. Phew.
