PostSubject: Knock / Det   Mon 20 Feb 2012 - 10:57

Hi guys,

I seem to be having an issue with Det / Knock on my car again. I went for a ride out on saturday and det / knock seemed to appear every time i hit boost. With any kind of load. So i went home and checked everything over and i found that one of my boost pipes had split. So i have replaced it and thought that was the cure. yay.

So i went out again last night and all seemed well. Except under load up hills / Gradients on full load? Any ideas what i should check? I am hoping it is just shite penrith shell v-power as its been in the tank for about a week... Currently running it dry so i can refuel!

Car spec is:
97 Classic 2.5 Forged build
Simtek ECU (mafless)
FMIC
Blitz induction kit
VF48 Turbo
Oil Catch Can
440cc Injectors
Full stainless system
Running 350bhp 375lb torque

Any ideas as im wanting it fixed by the gilpin run :-/

Regards Mat

I had a similar problem last week, and it was down to poor petrol, put a fresh tank in yesterday and gave a test in 4th gear from low revs then floor it to the red line, no more problems.

check it after you fill back up and do a few miles.

Im gonna try new fuel tonight fingers x it will be ok. Its running standard Check Engine light for knock detection on my simtek. Unfortunatley no KS3 as of yet!

Got another issue thats cropped up this mornign though! Seem to have developed a banging / knock at low speeds on country roads.... Can hear / Feel it through the accelerator pedal. Im hoping its a simple fix. I did have the calipers off and refurbed them the other week so i hope its just a bolt thats decided to work loose even though i tightend them! Grr damn cars!
