PostSubject: carports and planning permission   carports and planning permission EmptyFri 18 May - 5:36

ok guys the project car is kep out back in my yard which is dig enough to get 3 of them in i would . now there is a tarmaced drive area where the car is parked open to the eliments. the rest is paved. i was going to put a full on garage up and then a shed joing to it to work in but the garage with sides would dominate the yard too much and leave little space.

a car port seems a good idea to cover the car and still have space once the cars finished and on the road as i can park it out back on the street during day freeing up the yard space( bbq area in the summer lol) then build my shed in the corner which will be rough floor size of 8fx8f plenty room for a bench, engine stand, storage for parts which i have a habbit of hording just incase.

anyone know if ide need planning permision for the carport itl be just under a meter from the main house wall

cheers in advance

it all depends where you live the height of the car port, what roof you are putting on it and the area.

Do you live in Co. Durham??

I did some plans for a guy in Eaglescliffe recently and one of the things he wanted was a car port at the side of his house. The planners said if it was attached to the house it could be no higher than 2.5m at the eaves, if it was detached then he could have it higher.

This interactive mini guide always comes in handy when deciding if something is permissable:-
