NESF Tech day

A Tech day is something new that we are going to try out, I know some other forums run a similar thing, how it works is we have a garage open day that you can bring your own car along and carry out work on it yourself, small jobs only, nothing more than an hours work. This way everyone gets something done (8 slots in a day) preferably on a Sunday.
After a conversation with Finn, he has offered his garage for our first Tech day, for anyone that doesn't know Paul or hasn't visited his garage, he has a fantastic setup with a lift and loads of tools.

Don't panic if you haven't got a lot of Motor Vehicle knowledge or experience as we have-

Finn (Paul)- electrical engineer
Jonny Gav (me)- mechanical engineer


All Subaru enthusiasts with a substantial wealth of knowledge and experience on hand to help (and take the p1ss) if you get stuck
All members of NESF are welcome along to this event, not just people working on there cars.

We are looking at doing this sometime in April.

What are your thoughts on this?

Sounds like a cracking idea. I love watching other folk work.

What a cracking idea bud. Would be very interesting in seeing how these cars of ours really work...... . Got a little knowledge but can always learn a bit more.

What a cracking idea, i'm sure this was suggested on TTS a while ago and was laughed out of the forum. All the more to make it happen then!!!!!! Could i learn how to alloy weld and fit a STI8 intercooler to my classic as I think Kindon has forgot about me!

Fantastic Idea - Best way for owners to learn about their cars is to work on them themselves.

I am a very experienced mechanic, electrical installer, vehicle converter etc, etc, been in the trade for over 25 years.

If my experience can be of any assistance please let me know - mind you just learning about Scoobs at the minute - just wish I had more time for playing on the car - just done a 260 hour month at work.

i'll not put mine on ramps as need alot more than an hours work done......

excellent idea ...i know some of my pals in scotland do a similar thing .they also have a bi-monthly at a specialised engine builder ,shows how to port and polish ,honing bores crank regrindes etc...progression always a good thing would be up for it...u can always use my motor as a guinea pig..as long as u put it back together

can i come ill even get me hands dirty and i have an oil temp gauge to fit

as jonny said everyone from NESF is invited,

will have stripped down subaru engine parts scattered around the garage, and if anyone wants to ask any questions on what goes where/ how it works etc etc

we will be more than happy to help

how technical is removing a bolt and fitting a new washer???

peril its a tech day.

just coz its not talkin about pistons, conrods, bearings etc doesnt make it non tech. peeps can see how to change their transmission fluid ne bother. will wait till another day. dummy spat
