I managed to het a set of v3/4 sti heads, all intact with no damage. I checked the them for warpage, 0.213mm & 0.124 out of flush, so as a precaution i dropped them off with Bob for a dust skim, all ready the next day. Very Happy After a bit spit & polish, they came up canny.

After a few hours baking a left for a day to cure the inlet was ready to re-assemble.

Got most of the bits swapped over from my v5/6 inlet.

But then realised my billet rails had a different bolt offset, Evil or Very Mad so put them up for sale & went almost straight away. I've ordered a new set but may take a week or so to arrive before i can make any further progress on the inlet. In the mean time i may as well mount the FPR & Billet Fuel filter, & get the braided lines made up during the week, which should be easily this time round wil the lend of Drews special tool.

I sold my old fuel rails & used the money to buy some v3/4 ones from JAW, four days to arrive & no import tax payed. Very Happy

Fitted to the inlet

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Injectors, braided hoses & re-sleeved harness fitted. All finnished.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Realised i had nowhere to mount the FPR as i'd lopped off one to many lugs on the inlet in a gung-ho moment. So made an billet ally bracket up on the milling machine at work.& mounted it on the bulkhead.

Have a few hose connectors to order this week, & a burrette to cc the heads, then i can order the head gaskets.

Cheers lads, its taking some doing, but i knew its was gonna be a fook on.

Well whilst checking what the cc's the heads were, i was gettng very high readings that i new were no where near what they were supposed to be, but for some reason took a while for the penny to drop (well a day to be fair lol). Some of the valves wern't sealing properly & the fluid was leaking out, but for some reason i didn't notice Embarassed .
Suppose i can use the excuse that i've never done this before, Laughing

1 quick call to Mr Drew & called over to borrow valve compressor, started to dismantle the heads, lap in the valves & clean them up, fit some valve stem oil seals i had lying around.
What a fooking chew on ! Them little valve spring retainers will be the death of me.
One head done today, & cc'd, with no leaks this time. The other head will wait for tomorrow.
Then will check the valve clearances, more than likley need shiming up. Evil or Very Mad

Aye Col,that was the game plan, but took a while before i reilised the small screw driver i was using was magnetised & so were the other three i had, which hindered things some what lol! . But onxe i found a on magentised one it wasn't too bad just time consuming. Just waiting for the shims to come back from being machined down, then i can get going again.

Quick update.

Got the heads back off Bob, all shimms ground down, worked out much cheaper than buying new shimms. Ordered some 1.67mm Commetic head gaskets, so the final comp ratio will be 8:6:1, slightly higher than std (8:4:1) but should make for a bit better throttle response, obviously will be mapped for v power & a splash of NF.

Heads fitted.

Next got it timed timed up.

Hit a few other issues, my old wrinkle painted rocker covers didn't fit, so had to buy some new ones along with a seal kit, went for a silver finish.

Got the inlet on & masured up for hoses for the catch tank ect.

Got a good price from Alyn @ ASP on a 4PUK clutch, so once thats collected & a few other bits i should be just about there.
