| Hi All Just registered, so be gentle. Another Monkey Hanger to your members list! Currently on the lookout for my first ever Scoob but by no means my first performance car. I've read a lot on the differences on the Blob vs Hawk topic, but one thing I'd like to understand/experience is the power delivery. Is the 2.0 a little more abrupt in its power delivery versus the linear smooth delivery from the 2.5? Just sold a MK5 R32 because it bored me, too smooth. Strangely I enjoyed my old Civic Type-r with its VTEC power delivery... Obligatory "VTEC just kicked in yo!" image here lol Then though I like the revised dials on the Hawks plus the looks a little more. Then again the blob has the lower tax and is a little cheaper overall. Decisions, decisions. The market seems stagnant at present with little to choose from in a 100 mile radius. So far have test driven a hawk sti and an RB320. Standard STI was a huge dissapointment so would like to experience a PPP or remap car. Also drove a 450bhp Evo 8, that scared the hell out of me, far too hardcore for a daily driver. Any opinions? I may well pop down to the Raby Arms meet if you lot dont mind taking in a stray | |

| Welcome to the site
If you get an early hawkeye Sti like I have they are also in the lower tax bracket, mine is my second scoob so have had a 2 litre and now the 2.5 litre, I much prefer the 2.5 as it has more torque so less gear changes needed to keep it in the power band. I also prefer the shape of the hawk over the blob, but everybody has there own opinions I suppose.

| Thanks mate, good to hear from someone who has had both. Are you running PPP or any mods? Loved the RB320 but the standard STI felt a little flat other than the pull in 3rd - perhaps my expectations were too high?
Keep hearing about the 2.5 being prone to failure, is this a worthy consideration or just scare mongering from idiots trying to get 400 plus BHP on standard internals?

| If you want to stay in the lower tax bracket and like the hawk you have to get one that was registered before the 23 rd march 2006 | |

| Thanks Greigy, I had to be patient and wait for finding an R32 in that bracket too. Seems hard to spot the Hawks in that bracket. Best be patient I guess if I go down the Hawk route. | |

| I am offically putting my Hawkeye STI up for sale on Saturday, the car has a fully forge engine (good for 600hp+) which cost nearly £5000 last year and a load of other goodies. Currently running a very safe 380-400hp. The full spec will be posted on Saturday. But I am looking for offers over £7500 Here are some pictures The car is shown with red brakes, but now has brand new black sti brembos removed from my Sharkeye. | |

| I'd say get an 05 blob which has the 2.0 engine which is renowned for being stronger and I believe it can come well with running upto 450bhp, ej22gav's running his v9 at 408bhp/380lbft with no problem at all with a few simple upgrades, I'm running my v8 at 405bhp with no faults apart from autistic ecu which like to wander in the rev range lol sure the hawks can only cope with around 370-380bhp then you need a set of forged rods/pistons etc then the big money comes into play, just all personal preference on which at you prefer the look of to be fair | |

| I would go for the lower tax bracket blob eye. In my opinion its better looking than the hawk eye and the 2.5s are prone to oil pick up pipes cracking and causing a very expensive engine repair bill. There is also the bonus of having some spare cash leftover to spend on getting the power up a bit. | |
