Shouldn't have needed a vic test for cat D ... a vic test only proves the car's identity anyway .. it doesn't mean its safe or road worthy Smile

A vic test is only done on CAT C or higher .. CAT B & CAT A are not to be on the road and must be broken for salvageable parts or crushed completely.

This doesnt mean there aren't cat b or a cars back on the road .. even after a VIC Test ... as there are and VOSA don't stop them when they easily could be involved to stop it .. which is mad and very bad news for an unsuspecting customer who doesn't check a car out What a Face

Propper buzzing in the day that I've drove it 3rd gear don't want to work I hope it's just the clutch and n not the syncro. I don't seem to have much luck with gear boxes lol

lol Natski ... I'll take that as a compliment .. I think lol!

You can get the synchro mended .. our bug needed 3rd gear synchro done when we bought it (got it cheap and knew so wasn't a shock) cost about £600 if I remember correctly .. but that was with an extra part it needed when it was stripped down - so not the end of the world but a bit more expense Smile

Still a great deal cheaper than a second hand six speed box!

We used John Pye at Bishop Auckland .. although a few people have since had said they've had problems with them - we didn't other than being quoted a price £200 less and not informed about needing the extra part before going ahead - which we weren't too happy about but it did need to be done. The job itself was spot on for us, so we can only speak as we found.

The trick is finding someone with the necessary tools to deal with the 6 speed - lots deal with 5 but not so mznywith the 6 speed.

Good luck Smile

Paid cash and never got a receipt or nowt. Could tell you's a few stories on him but id rather gan elsewhere. Sorry to any1 who uses him or is mates wi him

It's horrible not having 3rd but when you come down gears from 654 they crunch a bit which I thought could be the clutch but its Trev that's advised me that its the syncro after he drove it. On the plus side when ha looked at the engine he said my TiVo looks like either a fp green 20g or a Scooby clinic turbo with 650 injectors equal length headers up pipe and other mods I'm lolling at it being close to 900 bhp but need it on the rollers to be sure. Laughing
