Toad alarm grrr Empty
PostSubject: Toad alarm grrr   Toad alarm grrr EmptyTue 4 Jun - 20:57

Just bought a hawk sti Sunday and really hate the toad alarm. Chirps so loud when lock and unlock ( I leave house half 6 in the morning) and keeps locking me in the car. Does anyone know how easy they are to remove and if its removed will the standard key work again to lock and unlock? May even pay a decent alarm place to remove it

Google the make and model of alarm unit they will be a way to turn it off through the programming

Have you got the master code, its a bitch to enter but get you into the programming mode and should be able to turn down the chirps. Mine chirps on arm and dis-arm but no louder than any other car.

The brain is spliced into you main harness so complete removal could be a pain. You could bridge it out easily but not sure it that would give you back the remote central locking from the key.

If you really want to quieten it down a bit until you decide what to do then stuff a rag in the siren and point it towards the bulk head.

In the end tho I think a trip to an auto electrician is in order if you don't want to remove it yourself. If you buy a new alarm from an installer they will normally remove the old system as part of the job, might be more cost effective.

I have the master code but when I get to the part I need to be it says led will be on for siren chirp or off if turned off but the led just goes red then press button one turns free and again goes orange so got me baffled to bits. Think I may just have to go over fri after work. If it can be set how I want it may keep it but thought standard alarm was good enough

It is a decent alarm but your right its a pain to set up, on my old MR2 I spent many evenings trying to sort out little gripes I had with it. Wasn't amused when my current blob came with the same alarm but its been faultless so far, only problem is I don't have the master code.

If your that sick of it mate you could remove the siren from under the bonnet!

Just snip the wires & tape them up! No need to pay anybody lol
