Well after my car spat its water out the exhaust, I got it to Subaru to see if they would replace the engine under warranty. (thought worth a try)

They have confirmed today that the warranty is void and they are not going to cover it. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad as they can detect a modified ecu.

One of the piston tops has cracked off, which then jammed and the cylinder liner has split which explains the reason the water came out the exhaust.

They have quoted me wait for it £7500+vat for a new engine Shocked Shocked

Looks like Andy will be busy !! Has it caused major damage can't believe they can't detect that on the ecu

How much power were you running Iddy? And was the extra power the cause of the failure or was it just bad luck?

What do you mean they can detect a modified ecu?

They can trace enhanced performance through the ecu?

What had you modified on it?

£7500 + vat Shocked fookin idiots Evil or Very Mad

Depending on the damage will depend on where you go from here so I hope its not too bad mate and you can salvage the original engine Crying or Very sad

Maca, the dealers can't detect the ecu but subaru can. they can detect what boost the car has been run. how long it's been on full boost, how many times it's hit the rev limiter and so on. Even the date the ecu was changed.

the dealer sends the coded logs from the car and subaru decrypt the info. and can tell what's been done from there.

So if you take the car from them now to get the work done by Andy Kindon are the dealers still going to charge you for what they have done so far, stripping the engine down. Bloody dealer prices are just a rip off, hope you get it sorted in the end.

That's pretty shocking news mate. I did say they maybe to detect ECU. I know we definatly can at work, its pretty strange for them to check the ECU that deep though for an engine seizure.

You have a spare block and bits ready don't you ?

Suppose it was worth a try bud, i was hoping they wouldn't send the logs off for your sake, but TBF, they will do anything not to carryout any work that will put them out of pocket. Every cloud has a siver lining, ....... Forged 2.5 cheers
