Seems I have destroyed my engine as I got sick of checking the oil every other day just to see it not changing. Car has thrown a check engine light on and it's running real rough Error code is
P0021 "A" camshaft position - timing over advanced- or system performance (bank 2)
I had a quick google and it seems its oil related probably Oil starvation to the avcs heads "oh dear"
Checked the oil and it took 3 litres to reach the max mark and it rattles on cold start up so yea the engine has had it basically. Don't know if its a cam rattle or bottom end and I'm hoping I can get away with just replacing the heads as that won't cost so much. If the whole engine needs to be replaced I may well just break it and call it a day with the thing as I was already a bit fed up with the fact that my replacement coilovers are knocking quite badly and need to be sent to bilstein to be refurbished

Nightmare, was the only symptoms rough idling? Have you had timing checked? Solinoids checked? Checked screen filters? Are all cams moving freely?

Try putting a oil flush in. Might free up the lifters then drain the whole lot out. Mine was making a queer noise similar to yours on cold, it seemed to of sorted it. I know its ok for people to say check this,do that etc, but you dont know what the problem is really til its looked at. Hope its good news tho mate. Ill have the wheels if you beeak it lol

Good old Bish has only gone and fixed the car The avcs solenoid had jammed up so a quick love tap with a small hammer and it's as good as new again.. Go on bishop son, this lad is getting the most merit I have ever seen on NESF in such a short space of time..
