| Wasn't going to post as really pissed off.... But fook it. Too cut a long story short.. Went into garage today (DLM) for the bad news. Head gasket gone, needs engine rebuild. Going down the forged road, as you do. ( 2k ish ) Good news is that it still drives ( for now), but have to keep it off boost or will go bang. Will be going in garage for a bit, and hopefully fixed by end of march if not sooner. Oh and piss off with by a 2ltr shit. :-) I hate fookin cars.

| Not good news then, but if it's only the head gasket that has gone why does it need a full engine rebuild. Or are you just getting it rebuilt for peace of mind | |

It's a lot of work just to do the head gaskets so may aswell just do the full lot! You cud do the head gaskets then a few miles later ring land cud fail not worth the risk IMO

| Bad news Anth. Gutted for you mate. Like Trev says, with the amount of work & cost involved in the HG work alone it makes 100% sense to just get it forged at the same time as last thing you need is those shitty pistons to fail a few miles down the road after the HG has been done. All the best mate. |

| I've always had a contingency plan (gan 'n give me fatha a visit!) just in case mine went. Would definitely go the forged route if it did let go but not sure if I'd go for more power, got enough as it is.
Sorry to hear about yours Anth, the joys of subaru ownership. The only plus side is that it will be a better car when it's had all the work done to it.
How many modified hawks are there kicking round the club that haven't had the engine let go?
