PostSubject: Standard internals and gearbox    Standard internals and gearbox EmptySat 21 Jun - 21:44

Hello people,
What can I run bhp and torque wise on standard interns and on the gearbox? I'm looking to get her remapped and launch control added but wondering whether I'm going to have to forge her for 450bhp.
Cheers Anth

For 450 bhp you need a v8/v9 sti engine and a 6 speed box or get a v7 sti engine with v9/v8 rods or go fully forged.

yours should be ok for 350bhp but its a lottery on how long it will last.

Would it not be cheaper forging my current ej20 and getting a 6 speed box? Just seems a lot of expense to buy another engine as mine is the semi closed deck block mate

Might as well just mod your engine with it being a semi cdb

For a set of forged pistons and rods your looking at over a grand
Its not cheap like but needs must imo  Wink

If you can find a decent low milage v8/9 sti engine for £1000ish id buy it and sell your engine on

its a safe but low cost 450bhp engine (if you can call that sort of money low cost  Shocked )

Then you'll need a 450bhp capable turbo, bigger injectors, fmi possibly (not sure what the newage sti tmi are good for)

would you trust fleabay forged pistons?

id prefer tried and tested pistons and rods or at least for them to be recommended by an experienced engine builder

Just my opinion mate, its something to work off tho Very Happy

Hahaha!!! Aye he's good with subarus he's built a fair few so il see what comes of it my pals was a standard v2 classic sti, popped head and decided to forge it and adding a nitrous kit takes him to 700bhp with 6 shots of 200bhp a time he's running it at 500bhp daily driver and says its dangerous to run fuel wise lol. I thought mine was bad getting 165mile to £40 he's getting not even half that.

Yeah he's running standard running 500bhp and adding a nitrous of each shot of 200bhp boost and get 6 shot Smile
And it's pretty f*****g quick I tell ye lol
It doesn't look like it's running that but it's a real sleeper.
He's actually a member on here but he's very rarely on.
