| Well I have had a bit of a problem with the engine the oil pick up pipe had cracked in the sump and was sucking in air and not oil which then destroyed the thrust bearing. So off to AndyK for a strip down to see how much damage. Not good news one of the cylinder liners has a small crack, so new block needed. So I decided might as well start the new project and build a good strong engine from the start. So the parts up to now:- New 2.5 casings with bore strengtheners fitted (see below) New 2.5 Full Nitride Crank. New ACL race bearings. New 14mm RCM Head Stud conversion (see below). New 12mm modified oil pump. Reuse existing Wossner Pistons (still in excellent condition). Reuse existing Carrillo Rods (still in excellent condition). Port and Polish existing heads. O ring existing heads. New casings with strentheners fitted. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]14mm Head Studs [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]one block fitted with 14mm head studs [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I will post more pictures when AndyK gets more parts fitted | |

| Bad news about the pick up pipe mate, it seems to be a common fault that Subaru just wash their hands of, would you mind if I had a look at the old pick up pipe??? | |

Jonny no problem. I think Andy still has it. Hardy, no you cant get an upgraded one, but a one from a classic is more solid construction, but you need a classic sump as well.

Phil, I hope so, just dont know at the moment which turbo to go for, I think I am going rotated setup this time. The favorite at the minute is a Billet GT3582, but litchfield are developing a new turbo with turbo dynamics and Bob Rawle, so watch this space.

would a 2.0 CDB with 2.5 sleeves and machined for rear thrust crank not be stronger though? or a 2.2 CDB? |

| peril, you can't beat displacement, that why the GtR is 3.8 litres and also why AndyF went for a 3.0 block, it's all about torque.
I could of gone 2.35 with a 2.2 closed deck and 2.5 crank, like steveBt has, but I think my car produces more torque than his.

| I am honestly shocked Subaru are turning a blind eye to this issue, and as Andy says I am going to contact Subaru about it.
Going to have a good look at it at work.
