Cheers mate but I already seen that, was at revolution yesterday ordering my new wheels and they said I needed 235/40/18 not 225/40/18 tyres for my new wheels for my 2006 Sti Hawkeye to keep the speedo correct, but I thought the 235 bit was just the width and the 40 bit the profile which affects speedo reading, the 235 width was £100 more for the package price than the 225 width but that's what they said I needed, we're they just saying this to get more money out of me Shocked

you can fit either, I have ran 225/40/18 on my hawkeye sti for nearly six years with no problems.

Just go with the 225s

Don't know who you were speaking to at revo but they got the maths wrong,

As standard your car has 225/45/17

225/45/17 have a rolling circ of 1992.7mm

225/40/18 have a rolling circ of 2001.8 so its slightly larger, to keep your speedo as accurate as possible you need to fit 225/40/18 tyres, this means your speedo will under read very slightly.

If you fit 235/40/18 tyres they have a larger rolling circ than both of the above so your speedo will be even further out, they have a rolling circ of 2027mm.

However, if you are fitting 8.5 wide wheels you are better off fitting 235's to give a bit rim protection from curbs.

Thanks guys I thought that 225/40/18 was the correct tyre size as that's what I had on my bugeye, so phoned revolution tonight and explained to them, I spoke to glen who still insists that 235/40/18 is the correct size for hawk Sti and he said that 225/40/18 is the correct size for the Blob Sti as they changed the standard size of the tyres when the hawk came out, he said if I insist that I want 225/40/18 he will put them on for me but said they always put the other size on the Hawkeye, anyway I have insisted on the 225/40/18
