| From what I can gather the OEM 17" wheels I had fitted as standard on the car were wearing Bridgestone Potenza RE50 - 215 * 45 * 17 (Please correct me if I'm wrong) When I bought my Inovite Torques 17" I had them wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1R's, which I thought they were excellent in all conditions. Currently my lovely 18" PFF7s are wearing Event(?) - 225 * 40 * 18 Now according to an online calculator jobby that Kushbex and Jonny posted a while back, this isnt ideal. I think the website is telling me my speedo is reading under, which is not good news. (Again, correct me if I'm wrong) http://www.alloywheels.com/Tyre_Calculator I also find them a touch slippy / slidey in moist events. Maybe I'm a crap driver or maybe they arent best suited to our general weather conditions or maybe its 50/50 - either way I'm looking for alternatives. From what I can see Toyo only do T1R 18"s in 215 - either 35 or 45, which according to the online system means I'll either be 2 mph under or 2.5mph over the nominal 70mph reading on my speedo. I'm no hoops expert and I'm looking for suggestions. Any recommendations that dont cost the earth ? | |

| I've got Uniroyal Rainsport2 225/40/18's on and find them excellent. Bit numb till they're scrubbed in but then they're nice and progressive/predictable, superb in damp and wet conditions. £100ish per corner I think. Size wise I'm sure 225/40 is fine, would probs go up to 235 when I change em (in about 20years, the miles I do ) but purely cos me Rotas are 8.5" and the tyres look slightly stretched.... | |

| 225/40/18 is the correct tyre size Keith, I have just fitted a full set of kumho KU37's to mine, did a lot of research being a right tight arse pikey and found these to out perform all the mid level performance tyres including the toyo proxes.
The best bit is I got a full set of 4 from camskill for £260
Have a read up on them, they are honestly as good as the bridgestones I have on the black car for wet and dry weather and better than the Dunlop SP sports they replaced.

| Blimey blinkin nora I was thinking £260 might get me the front end shoed only. Will have to have a read up on these as I'm sure you wouldnt put anything suspect on the car....even if it meant saving a few quid. As Steve has said, the Event tyres dont inspire confidence and as you'll appreciate I'm hardly known for taking tyres to the limit in any conditions, which tells you just how iffy they are. | |

| There are a lot is shite tyres around, yeah you are right, I feel the tyres on a Subaru are the most important part of the car, you can easily ruin the handling with a poor tyre choice. | |

That's a cracking price that Jonny, must of been on special offer though when you bought them as they are nowhere near that price now | |

| Just checking on Camskill, your KU37's are at £61, the T1R's are at £89 or there is a pick of almost anything you'd want between £100 - £110 Got to look at it both ways. Is another £120 a complete deal breaker to fit the Toyo's ? Do the Toyos really justify a 50% price premium over the Kumho's ? I'll have to give that some thought. No surprise the Event tyres retail for about £45 I'll have to give Paul a bell @ CTY to see how much he'll charge for fitting/balancing. | |

| Cheers Tom, Ive seen them actually and read up on the tyre review site. The other tyre that gets good feedback alround is the Uniroyal that Robbo mentioned. | |
