Hi guys i have a friend who took his impreza to get serviced. And they found metal in his oil. They basically told him that he has 6 months before it goes bang. Any advice?

Did they keep the oil for him to inspect ? How bad is the metal, are we talking shards or tiny shiney particales in the oil ?

I've got a version 8 short motor, when I first drained the oil from it, it's was glittered with metal quite heavily, I pulled the sump off and discovered the big ends were gone and it hand a snapped connection rod to cylinder 4, hope this isn't the case with your mate but possibly a worse case scenario

Ide question who serviced the car firsty as could just be scare tacktics for more work. On the downside i had metal in mine and it was a hole in the piston. Personaly any metal in the oil whats bug enough to cause a problem will be doing so allready not in 6 month time. Seems weird to me

if there is actualy metal/swarf in the oil id give it 6 mile not 6 month
