Did you do all the comparison sites?
money supermarket, confused, compare the market, beat that quote etc? Problem with those Nic is that they will quote you even if you have declared mods but when you actually link to the insurer's site from the comparison site they do not transfer across the modifications. This happened to me several times and the insurer's themselves even said this was problem for them. Only discovered when I bought the insurance and when the schedule arrived no mods were on it. When I called them to tell them they said they couldn't insure me with those mods. If your Subaru is standard then comparison sites are fine to use, but if you have any mods you are best staying away from the mainstream insurers and going with specialist insurers such as Sky, A-Plan, Keith Michaels, etc. The problem with the mainstreams are that standard unmodified cars is 99.9% of their bread and butter business and their staff lack the understanding of what mods are and what their effect is on your vehicle. An example is Admiral who cancelled my insurance because I declared I had some carbon fibre wing mirror covers and B-pillar covers on. They didn't even know what a B-Pillar was! But said they were cancelling as I "had more than 5 modifications on the car" Even so they will only return your car to manufacturer's standard specification in the event of a claim/loss. However specialist insurers will replace to the same standard as the modified parts you have declared. For Sky I just emailed them a list of all the modifications (magic tree included ) - job done! Sorry for the long post but I hope there is some useful info in there. You need to be careful as insurers will do anything to avoid paying out in full (hence declaring the magic tree...on Natski's advice!) |

| Lol .. yeah you're right there. Not so sure about the magic tree tho .. has anyone ever claimed for the magic tree? Saying that .. my first little car was a B reg Nova and it got nicked and burnt out .. I was more bothered about my centipede (stuffed toy) that was in it at the time ...poor centy |

| Yes they are classed as mods but not performance mods.by not declaring these things in the event of an accident they will use any excuse not to pay and splitters are not fitted as standard.its up to the individual wether you declare or not but i have Lian | |

| I've just got a quote from KM today. Just buying a 55 Blob STI. £695 fully comp, standard car. I've had a company car for 10 years so no, no claims but gave me an introductory discount. I'm 29, clean history, no points etc.. But also said it'd come down £50 if I wait til I'm 30 in March
I can't complain at those prices, comparison sites wanted £1650 now | |

Mind you my Scoob was not standard.....and will be even less standard in just over 2 weeks |

| I've had plenty performance cars but never for a full year so built up any ncd. My company car is an Astra GTC VXR too so think that helped. | |
