Key snapped in lock :(

This is for my house by the way, not my car.
I went to walk the dog yesterday and locked the
back door but when I took the key out It snapped
off in my hand

Does anybody know a way of fixing my door without
using a locksmith?

When I snapped the key in my car door lock I had to file down some long noise plyers to pull the bit of key out of the lock and had new key cut with the 2 bits that were left worked a treat

Little dab of super glue on what's left of key and try to touch what's left in lock, give it couple of seconds to bond and try and pull the broken bit out

What type of door is it ,pvc , is so just change the lock barrel they are only about a tenner and aneasy job

Yeah, it's a pvc door but changing the barrel isn't as easy as it seems because the door is locked. If it was open then I could just undo the little screw on the side. I need to either get out Mr.Bosch or try and turn the little bit of key that's sticking out, I've had no luck with that yet though.

the bit that snapped off ,the piece in your hand put that back in and turn it to open it

could take the handle off and with whats left of the lock barrel get some mole grips on and and try and snap it.
ive used this method in the past but takes alot of wangling haha

I've got it sorted now cheers. I put a small flat bladed screwdriver into the lock and used it to turn the portion of key that was stuck in the lock. Then just took out the old barrel and replace it. Saves me paying a locksmith and also an earbashing from the lass lol
