| Hi out there, I'm looking for some help with my impreza none turbo automatic. It was running fine then the other day it did not go over 2000 reves without spluttering. I have changed the exhaust and cats to no avail. It does not read any faults on the machine. I have spent £300 so far and I don,t want to waist any more money if it is broken beond repair. It starts and runs fine and changes up the gears on the flat if it does not have to rev to high. Any ideas would be realy helpful. chears Tony

| thats what happened to me when my maf sensor went boobs up (it put the car into limp mode). BUT it did throw up an error code for the maf. Do you know anyone with the same car as you so you could borrow their maf sensor to try ?? | |

| Sounds like a large air leak on the hot side, happened to me when i snapped the intercooler pipe, would tick over & tootle along, but as soon as you touched the loud pedal it would splutter like hell & try to cut out. | |

| Sorry to burst everyone's bubble but the non turbo imprezas don't have MAF sensors.
2 things usually cause this fault, 1 is the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor and the other is the lambda sensor.
To check if its the lambda sensor you need to unplug it, if it runs ok after you do this that's your issue.
The map sensor it located in the top of the manifold, try removing it and cleaning it with brake cleaner.
If this doesn't work drop it in to see Drew, he has £000 of diagnostic equipment that should find the fault. | |
