Just been informed by the guy who was going to fit my new coilovers tonight that he can't do them because you need laser tracking gear to fit them
Is this right ?? Is it not a simple task of just swapping the suspension over ?? Need these fitting tonight am getting my wheels fitted tomorrow am gutted

Would of thought that you would need 4 wheel alignment after fitting the coilovers to get them set up correctly.

If you do need 4 wheel alignment .. can't you put them on and the wheels then get it done after?

You can fit them and then have them aligned after, I wouldn't recommend driving too far after fitting tho. If you can keep the suspension arm at the same place while you remove the shocks/springs and replace with Coilovers, it won't affect your geometry too much. Obviously you won't be able to keep it exact unless you have a jig or weld them, but it can be done....how do you think they used to change them before laser tracking was invented?

Actually tyrespot do 4 wheel alignment and they're not too shabby (on Scottswood road) IMO.

i remember when i got coilovers put on my s14 and everyone was saying u need to get it aligned or it will handle crap and be dangerous. dropped it on its arse and never actual got round to getting it aligned and it didnt drive any worse than before i fitted them and didnt notice any wear on the tyres but i probs only did around 3000 mile before it got sold. by all means get it done but i wouldnt panic about it.

How much are revolution charging to fit them coilovers? Tbh you would be best getting alignment done asap to avoid crap handling and dodgy wear on your tyres.

You could always get your wheels fitted and arches rolled at Revolution and then contact SidewaysDan off here to see if he can fit the suspension and do the alignment, he's supposed to be good at it and not too far away from Revolution if he can do it before or after you go there.

I have been thinking about it and can't understand how changing the suspension struts would affect the alignment. The coilover struts aren't camber adjustable because all that is located on the wishbone that the struts are fixed to.
