Boost Leak?

Took my mate out in the scoob yesterday and he seems to think I might have boost leak because:

1) You get a high pitched whiring noise when the turbo spools up
2) The boost guage peaks and drops under full acceleration


I thought the noise was just a characteristic of the turbo (just got a VF43 fitted) but i must admit my old td04 never made this sort if noise

Also is it normal for the boost gauge to peak then drop or is it meant to peak and hold?


I think it's probs ok but jus wanna double check on here!

have you had re-map?

yes remap has been done!

If you have just had it mapped it must be possible leak as the mapper would had noticed anything wrong at the time of mapping

I dont think anything has changed since its been mapped though and Duncan never said anything .... I think its probs fine lol (famous last words)

I have a vf35 on my scoobie and mine does the same thing on boost there's a whining noise and boost gauge will go up then drop off but power seems to be there

it isnt normal too hear a whining noise on boost, as already said it sounds like a boost leak..

but the boost dropping off is normal on a vf.

will be mapped too maybe 1.4-1.5 bar peak

but boost tail off at the topend ov the rev range

Mines more of a whistling noise more than a wine noise
