Sounds like thermostat stuck take it out and see if it stays between cold and halfway to warm make sue the water pump isn't leaking or have any strange noise if it doesn't over heat it not ya gasket

Mine did that and it was waterpump gasket knackered, followed by collapsed pump the lot. Hope it aint the same for you
